Fall Concert Review/Looking to the Holidays

10/26/2018

Last Monday's fall concert was a HUGE success.  I was super proud of all three choirs on their beautiful and musical performances that they gave.  I got wonderful compliments from my fellow colleagues that were in attendance and from Sprayberry's former director, Mr. Autry! A really nice performance, all!

But the work is not over yet! Now that our fall concert is out of the way, it's time to start focusing on our holiday concerts.  Sprayberry Chorus is involved in two holiday concerts: Advanced Women and Men's Chorus will be combing for the Masterworks concert on November 30th, where we will be joined by the Sprayberry Band and Sprayberry Orchestra.  Our chorus holiday concert will be on the evening of December 10th. Please refer back to the syllabus for any questions relating to concert dates.

Students have already received some of their holiday music; the rest will be coming shortly.  Men's Choir and Advanced Women have already received: The Kyrie and Gloria from Schubert's Mass in G, Master's in the Hall, Carol of the Bells, and Chanuke oi Chanuke.  Treble Singers have received Gesu Bambino and I Wonder as I Wander.  If your student has not recieved this specific pieces, please let me know so I can fix that! We've already started working on these pieces, and they're going great! I encourage all of our students to continue to practice their music outside of class, to speed up the learning process!

I would also like to reiterate one point from the syllabus regarding concert attendance.  Our concerts are our final exams for chorus, and it is important that every student arrives to the concert to "take their test".  If a student does not show up to the concert, per our policy, the student will have to schedule a time to make up the concert by singing their music for me, as a solo.  Those students have 5 days upon their return to school to make up the concert; if they fail to do so, then it will be documented as a "0" in our gradebook.  If you have any questions about concert attendance, please feel free to reach out to me as soon as you can.

I'm really looking forward to our holiday concerts, and I hope you are, too!
